About The Position
At Venn, we’re building a platform dedicated to driving real-world connections between people and their neighborhoods. Venn combines an easy-to-use app and inviting physical spaces with on-the-ground neighborhood managers and inclusive events. Together, we foster a greater sense of belonging for everyone in the community, strengthen the local economy, and increase value for property owners. Founded in 2017, Venn operates in Brooklyn, Chicago, Kansas City, LA, and Tel Aviv. We are expanding aggressively around the world and need creative and compassionate talent to join us on our journey.
About the job
As Venn grows, we are also evolving our brand design and exploring new ways of storytelling. You will join a new team responsible for developing our brand and visually executing engaging and inspiring design across our communities. Your work will span digital, physical, and human-to-human interactions. It is critical that you bring a depth of digital design experience to the team and are able to lead UX and UI strategy across all our channels. There are three core areas of focus for this position:
- Digital Brand Design
You will closely partner with our Director of Brand to translate our brand into a flexible and scalable system across a wide range of digital channels. From UX and UI to iconography and color, you’ll play a key role in shaping how we show up across digital, including web, social, and marketing channels.
- Communication Design
You will have an opportunity to develop and execute art direction on creative content across social, digital and print. Working with type, illustration, photography and other tools from our brand system, you’ll create visually-striking work that champions our brand’s point of view and help tell our stories on social, digital and print applications.
- Environmental Branding and Physical Space Activation
You will help apply our brand system and design thinking to real world spaces in ways that surprise and delight our audience. You will collaborate with our Director of Brand, Director of Physical Spaces, and local teams to create inviting, joyful, and innovative physical touchpoints that drive physical and digital engagement with our brand and platform.
In each of these focus areas, the projects you’ll work on will vary widely, from big, ambitious, never-been-tried-before projects to small, operational design tasks. But virtually all of it will be consumer-facing, celebrating the human stories and local details that shape our product and brand. Your thinking and work will come to life immediately, giving you the satisfaction of seeing your work show up in neighborhoods around the world. No matter the task, no matter the audience, you must approach them all with the same level of excitement, focus, and commitment to getting it right. Above all, we’re looking for people who can think broadly, make precisely, and are hungry to learn.
We are looking for digital-first designers and creative thinkers with a portfolio of work clearly exemplifying a breadth and sophistication of digital design work. You should have the UX/UI chops to push us towards cleaner and sharper interactions and experiences across all our digital channels. In all your work, you should showcase a strong attention to detail and the desire to delight and positively impact people’s lives. You should be able to communicate persuasively, share feedback constructively, and listen with an open mind. You should be able to work collaboratively and independently, completing your projects in a timely manner. Above all else, you should show a curiosity and desire to grow as a designer through exploration, experimentation and learning from mistakes.
